Description
OCH is expanding and is currently seeking skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of uniquely talented, diverse professionals for a large Government project in DC Metro Area. This role involves complex systems engineering and database support in a multi-site environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with enterprise-level systems, strong Linux skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex interconnected systems.
Location : Hybrid Remote, Sterling VA (One day a week in the office)
Core Responsibilities & Duties: - Provide guidance and mentorship to a team of system engineers.
- Design and maintain complex systems architecture across multiple sites.
- Develop and implement automation strategies.
- Manage virtualization infrastructure and ensure database system security.
- Collaborate on Node.js web application maintenance.
- Implement and manage monitoring solutions.
- Create technical documentation, including system and data flow diagrams.
- Support configuration management and IT logistics activities.
- Assist with systems testing and maintenance.
- Contribute to information system security support.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or related field.
Experience:- 15+ years of demonstrated experience in systems engineering including 5+ years in a senior role.
- Strong Linux administration skills (CentOS, Rocky Linux, Red Hat).
- Experience with VMware.
- Basic understanding or exposure to Windows administration skills Ldap/Active directory.
- Patch management (Satellite, Katello, WSUS, etc).
- Strong troubleshooting skills in complex environments.
- Ability to create technical documentation and system diagrams.
Preferred Qualifications: - Exposure to conceptual understanding of Databases. (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Redis, MongoDB)
- Experience or familiarity with with containerization (Docker), monitoring solutions (Elastic Stack, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
- Cisco networking experience.
