Job summary: In this role you will provide leadership and management oversight of avionics project teams assuring the project's financials, schedule and technical objectives are met and that the highest level of customer satisfaction is achieved.
This new position will support/manage actual and future prestigious fighter, helicopter, and trainer programs like. This includes the legacy fleet as well as major future programs like FCAS and GCAP, Tempest. This position is located in our Heidelberg facility. While our strong preference is for the selected candidate to be on location, we will consider experienced candidates working part time from home office. Reports to the Director Fighter & Bomber Avionics, EUMEA.
Job Responsibilities: • Accountable for all aspects of assigned development or production programs including execution (cost, schedule, technical performance, quality, inventory management, and customer engagement) and ensuring program commitments are met, having the authority to make cogent and timely decisions related to the project
• Acts as primary point of contact between Rockwell Collins Heidelberg and the customer program office, suppliers, and key customer stakeholders
• Responsible and accountable to the Business Segment Management for program execution, profitability, timeliness, and overall success. Makes decisions that are cost effective to the company and ensures assigned projects meet financial commitments for orders, sales, profit and cash flow
• Leads or participates in the creation of new business, new business strategies, product roadmaps and captures including development of strategic and financial plans. Leads the development and delivery of new business captures and proposals
• Acts as the interface to the customer, while building and maintaining a personal customer and industry network
Qualifications & Experience: • Min Bachelors' degree in a technical field
• Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience leading and inspiring diverse teams in a high tempo environment
• Successful, proven past performance in leading and managing multi-discipline avionics project teams
• Experience in managing complex avionics development projects and/or Integrated Product Teams
• Experience interacting and managing programs for Aerospace Primes and/or Ministry of Defense
• Experience with military procurement agencies
• Expertise in project management
• Very strong presentation and organizational skills
• Highly adaptable with a high degree of initiative
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• New Business Capture Lead experience / Proposal manager experience
• Experience in the military and/or fixed wing technology, platforms and markets • Detailed knowledge of the defense aerospace market
• Fluent in German and English is a must
• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
• Deep understanding of the Collins Management System
• Willingness to travel about 30%
• Working experience in a global matrix organization with an integrated business model, preferably in a US company
• Able to travel, based Heidelberg or regionally working remotely
• Military background is beneficial
