A leading defense technology organization is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support mission-critical systems within a secure environment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with a passion for automation, optimization, and scalable infrastructure design. This role involves collaborating with software, data, and security teams to build, deploy, and sustain high-performance systems supporting national defense missions.
Support system transitions from tightly coupled on-prem architectures to modern DevOps-based solutions.
Design, develop, integrate, and support CI/CD pipelines for build, integration, test, and deployment across hybrid cloud environments.
Automate configuration management and infrastructure provisioning using tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
Enhance performance, security, and consistency through infrastructure-as-code practices.
Collaborate closely with software developers and data scientists to deliver mission-aligned technical solutions.
Implement and manage platform security, including encryption, access controls, and compliance automation.
Provide operational and troubleshooting support for Linux-based systems and virtualized environments.
Participate in on-call rotation and support occasional after-hours maintenance.
Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
5+ years of experience in Linux System Administration and DevOps engineering.
Strong proficiency with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8) and related tools.
Experience managing VMware (ESXi/vCenter) or AWS-based environments.
Proficient with scripting languages (Bash, Python) and configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
Familiarity with Rancher, Git, Artifactory, Bitbucket, CI/CD pipelines, and Jira.
Experience with NAS/SAN administration.
Ability to work in Agile/Scrum environments.
Must hold an active Security+ or CISSP certification.
Physical ability to assist with hardware installation (up to 35 lbs).
Experience with DevSecOps frameworks and secure software delivery.
Background in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with fiber channel switch installation and management.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Strong communication and coordination skills when engaging with cross-functional or external teams.
Salary range: $95K–$130K, commensurate with experience.
