A high-tech defense contractor is seeking a DevOps Engineer – CI/CD to design, automate, and maintain enterprise-level build and deployment pipelines supporting complex Java applications. The role involves integrating commercial and open-source tools, implementing best practices in secure software delivery, and working within a mission-critical classified environment.
Design and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, supporting build, test, and deployment workflows.
Optimize and manage Gradle-based Java build processes, including dependency management and artifact storage (Nexus, Artifactory, etc.).
Integrate COTS and open-source components while ensuring compliance, licensing control, and reproducibility.
Develop automation and orchestration scripts in Python, Bash, or Groovy to streamline build and deployment operations.
Containerize applications and build tools using Docker or Podman, managing images and registries for CI execution.
Extend and maintain Jenkins shared libraries for reusable, modular pipeline logic.
Support integration with monitoring, logging, artifact, and secret-management tools.
Apply secure branching strategies (GitFlow, trunk-based) and DevSecOps best practices.
Collaborate with developers, testers, and IT operations to ensure efficient, secure, and traceable software delivery.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years in DevOps, build/release engineering, or CI/CD automation.
Hands-on experience designing Jenkins pipelines and scripting in Groovy.
Proficiency in Gradle, Java build systems, and multi-module project management.
Strong scripting background in Python, Bash, or Groovy.
Proven experience with Docker or Podman and container workflow management.
Familiarity with Linux environments and Git version control.
Demonstrated success integrating COTS/FOSS components into enterprise pipelines.
Strong problem-solving and cross-team communication skills.
Experience deploying Jenkins agents in Kubernetes or OpenShift.
Familiarity with Artifactory/Nexus, container registries, and secret management (Vault or equivalent).
Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
Experience with DevSecOps security scanning and compliance automation.
Relevant certifications (AWS DevOps Engineer, Jenkins Engineer, Kubernetes Security Specialist).
Salary range: $115K–$170K, based on experience.
