A leading defense technology contractor is seeking an RF Systems & Hardware Engineer to provide engineering analysis, baseline management, and systems integration support for a high-priority operational communications network. This role involves ensuring optimal system performance, troubleshooting complex RF issues, and contributing to the design and enhancement of next-generation satellite communication systems.
Perform engineering analysis, configuration management, and sustainment of RF and ground-based communication systems.
Support system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure continuous availability.
Collect and analyze diagnostic data, document issues, and develop resolutions or workarounds to restore operations.
Conduct performance and cost trade-off studies for proposed design changes and upgrades.
Use RF diagnostic tools such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and signal generators to identify and correct faults.
Support requirements development for new system capabilities and hardware/software enhancements.
Develop and refine engineering procedures, concept of operations (CONOPS), and system documentation.
Participate in integration testing, field installations, and operational evaluations.
Provide after-hours and occasional travel support (including short-notice CONUS/OCONUS trips).
Support antenna and tower operations, following all required safety protocols.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience supporting RF Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities for satellite or ground communication systems.
Proficiency with RF test and measurement equipment (spectrum/network analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators).
Experience creating and maintaining system schematics, block diagrams, bills of materials (BOMs), and design reviews.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
Ability to support emergency repair trips and occasional after-hours work.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work at heights and complete safety certifications for antenna/tower operations.
Background in RF systems engineering, including hardware integration and signal path analysis.
Experience supporting satellite communications (SATCOM) or space/ground terminal systems.
Familiarity with configuration control, requirements tracking, and change management tools.
Ability to author white papers or engineering assessments for capability improvements.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to contribute technical insights within design and integration teams.
Salary range: $120K–$130K, based on experience.
