Overview

A national defense technology company is seeking a Software Engineer – Mission Systems to support real-time software operations, baseline integration, and maintenance of mission-critical applications. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, hands-on software experience, and the ability to troubleshoot and restore system functionality in a fast-paced operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve software application issues impacting live mission systems.

  • Support integration, testing, and deployment of new software baselines and system builds.

  • Analyze and isolate software defects, performance issues, and unexpected behavior.

  • Perform in-depth end-to-end assessments to ensure system stability and compliance.

  • Document troubleshooting actions, updates, and system configurations.

  • Collaborate with development, test, and O&M teams to enhance software reliability and performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph (transferable).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field.

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, integration, or maintenance.

  • Proficiency with Java or C++ development.

  • Experience supporting software integration or operational environments.

  • Strong understanding of software lifecycle processes and system testing.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Linux/Unix, SQL, and version control systems (Git, Bitbucket).

  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and Agile workflows.

  • Background in Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contracts supporting real-time software.

  • Knowledge of configuration management and CI/CD environments.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Total compensation package: $180K–$221K, depending on experience.
