Performs structural and sheet metal repairs and modifications to aircraft, accessories and associated equipment. Must be knowledgeable with the operation and maintenance of structural metal equipment and machinery. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge and experience to solve structural repair problems. Provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction to employees in the Aircraft Structural Mechanic classification. Possess in depth knowledge of aircraft structural maintenance practices, applicable maintenance/ technical manuals and publications, basic tools, special tools, test equipment and the operation and maintenance of structural repair equipment and machinery. Must have working knowledge of corrosion detection, prevention and treatment. Must be customer oriented.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience as an Airframe Structural Mechanic. Must be familiar with aircraft systems, tools, drawings, schematics and normal safety requirements. Must have experience in corrosion detection, treatment and prevention.
Satisfactory completion of U.S. Navy aircraft structural repair AMS “A” or “B” school or equivalent aircraft structural repair courses preferred but not required. FAA Airframe license, desired, but not required.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level security clearance.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking and working in tiring uncomfortable positions. Must be able to regularly lift 35 pounds unassisted. May occasionally be required to lift 50 pounds unassisted. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May work around moving mechanical parts.
