Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-4 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Responding to all hazards as it relates to the Fire and Emergency Services including: structure fires, vehicle fires, aircraft emergencies and accidents, emergency medical calls, technical rescue calls and Hazardous Materials incidents. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
In lieu of the specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, you may qualify based on education or equivalent combination of education and experience, as follows; Successful completion of a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university with major study in Fire Science, Fire Training, or other related fields of study OR Combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel DHA (m) First Response/Safety direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. No PCS costs will be paid. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
