Position Summary Base-2 Solutions is seeking a DevOps Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy a state-of-the-art technology stack supporting the DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P) Modernization program. The role supports the mission to centralize and standardize Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation and Dissemination (TCPED) of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) across the Defense Intelligence Enterprise (DIE). The engineer will work as part of a mission-focused, solutions-oriented, and adaptive team that values inclusion, innovation, collaboration, and professional development. Most work is conducted on-site in Bethesda, MD, with a flexible schedule and occasional remote tasks. Essential Duties and
    • Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big data pipeline using a microservice architecture running on Kubernetes, Elasticsearch backend, and Kafka messaging.
    • Enhance and maintain CI/CD and DevOps scripts and processes including AI-integrated solutions for failure analysis, security, and compliance to facilitate faster development, quicker error detection, and resilient deployments.
    • Design, develop, and support scalable, redundant infrastructure including physical and virtualized environments.
    • Configure Kubernetes continuous deployments using Helm, YAML, and ArgoCD.
    • Collaborate with System Engineers to design solutions for new features and
    • Provide technical input to systems engineering documentation and diagrams/models in coordination with systems engineering and architect teams.
    • Participate in Agile release planning, scrum of scrums, bug triage, design sessions, and other meetings.
    • Develop PaaS solutions for hybrid deployments and secure multi-tenant GPU sharing in Kubernetes environments. Required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field or equivalent
experience with 8+ years in software development, system engineering, or related field; 6+ years of
    • Possess at least one DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification, e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, Security+ CE, SSCP, CISSP (or Associate).
    • Ability to obtain Privileged User Account (PUA) certification per DoD 8570 policy.
    • Familiarity with external-secrets, ArgoCD, cert-manager, and elastic search (eck).
    • GitLab pipeline development
experience including integration of GitLab CI/CD components, code quality reports, and code coverage/test reports.
  • Knowledgeable in navigating Linux OS, specifically sysctls for Kubernetes environments, FApolicyd, and SELinux
    • Comfortable with Elastic Search, Logstash, and Kibana.
    • Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with systems at scale.
  • Experience or knowledge of key Agile processes and techniques.
  • Experience with development languages and tools such as Bash, PowerShell, SALT, Python, Groovy, Java.
  • Experience on a production or enterprise system.
  • Experience with Kafka or other message passing systems (AMQP, JMS).
  • Experience with Kubernetes monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Open Telemetry.
  • Experience with SALT for deployment automation.
  • Experience with Nexus. Required
Education and
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field with 8+ years in software development, system engineering, or related field.
    • Master's degree with 6+ years in software development, system engineering, or related field. Required Certifications
    • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification, e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, Security+ CE, SSCP, CISSP (or Associate).
    • Privileged User Account (PUA) certification per DoD 8570 policy (ability to obtain). Required Security
