Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Strategic Planner - Level 3 or Level 4, to join the Space sector Strategic Development organization, reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Development.  The selected applicant will become a trusted member of a team responsible for leading Sector-level strategy, investment planning, and associated efforts.  The preferred location for this role is McLean VA, or Redondo Beach CA.  We will consider other major NGC Space sector locations.

This role can be filled at either a Level 3 or 4.

Role and Impact:

  • Collaborate with division and business unit leadership and strategy leads to understand their businesses, strategies, pipelines, and investment needs.
  • Partner with NGSP Chief Technology Office, division, and business unit teams to develop and recommend specific internal investments leveraging supporting data and financial analyses.
  • Work with strategic planning and technology planning leads to comprehend NGSP’s strategic objectives and the associated capability needs and gaps, developing investment plans to close those gaps.
  • Communicate NGSP internal investments strategy to multiple stakeholders, including corporate, sector, division, and business unit executive leadership through presentations and briefings.
  • Conduct strategic assessments of current financial plans, manage internal investments budgets, and support investment reviews to advance the development and refinement of the sector’s Long-Range Strategic Plan (LRSP).
  • Work with sector, division, and business unit teams to adjust or reallocate investment budgets and plans as needed, both in-year and in preparation for future years.
  • Maintain records of budget and project approvals, pressures and opportunities, and associated documents.
  • Support the development and continual refinement of the divisions’ integrated strategic internal investments, including internal research and development (IR&D), marketing and sales (M&S), and bid and proposal (B&P) projects in support of NGSP strategy, priorities, and objectives.
  • Lead investment management support activities and collaboration with cross-functional teams to execute critical support and business management functions.
  • Support the cross-functional development, integration, workflow, and continuous improvement of digital transformations tools to support future investment planning and execution - specifically the Strategic Investment Management Platform (SIMPL) and Research and Development Information System (RDIS).

Basic Qualifications

  • Level 3: Bachelors degree with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in Strategy, Business Management, Financial Planning, or Project/Program experience - OR - Master’s degree with 3+ years relevant experience in Strategy, Business Management, Financial Planning, or Project/Program experience.
  • Level 4: Bachelors degree with a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in Strategy, Business Management, Financial Planning, or Project/Program experience - OR - Master’s degree with 6+ years relevant experience in Strategy, Business Management, Financial Planning, or Project/Program experience.
  • Previous experience in strategic assessment, strategy development, and/or financial analysis.
  • Proven experience creating executive-level briefing and presentation content.
  • Advanced MS PowerPoint and Excel skills.
  • Experience working with cross functional teams.
  • Familiarity with space industry trends, dynamics, and characteristics.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience in strategic planning, portfolio development, and/or strategic assessment.
  • Experience in strategic planning at an aerospace and defense industry enterprise.
  • Experience with internal ERP systems and IBM Cognos (NGFP).
  • Excellent oral/written communication, presentation, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Northrop Grumman internal long-range strategic planning or portfolio development experience.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance at the time of application with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access.

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $155,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $193,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
