We are seeking a professional and dependable Armed Guard to support security operations at a CDC facility in Atlanta, GA. The Armed Guard will be responsible for protecting government personnel, facilities, equipment, and property while maintaining a safe and secure environment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong situational awareness, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm and composed in routine and emergency situations. This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a security team while following established post orders, procedures, and applicable federal security requirements.

• Protect Government Property: Guard buildings, equipment, materials, and other government property while controlling access for employees, visitors, and authorized personnel.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry and exit points in accordance with established security procedures and post orders.
• Emergency Response: Respond appropriately to emergencies, security incidents, alarms, and other unexpected situations; enforce applicable rules and regulations and assist emergency personnel as needed.
• Crowd, Parking, and Traffic Control: Provide direction and assistance with pedestrian, vehicle, parking, and traffic control as required.
• Professional Interaction: Escort and interact with government personnel, visitors, law enforcement, emergency responders, and members of the public while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Maintain Composure: Exercise poise, sound judgment, and self-control during stressful or emergency situations.
• Security Equipment:Operate security equipment, including metal detectors, X-ray systems, CCTV, communication equipment, and other security-related systems as required.
• Firearms: Safely carry, handle, and utilize a firearm in accordance with applicable federal, state, site, and company requirements.
• Report Writing: Prepare clear, concise, accurate, and grammatically correct reports documenting security incidents, activities, and other required information.
• Post Orders: Read, understand, and follow written post orders, security procedures, and instructions.
• Communications: Respond appropriately to routine and emergency dispatches and maintain clear communication with supervisors, dispatch personnel, law enforcement, and other emergency responders.
• Emergency Medical Assistance: Perform emergency actions, including first aid and CPR, within the scope of training and certification until appropriate medicalassistance arrives.
• Facility Security:Maintain continuous awareness of activities occurring within assigned areas and promptly report suspicious activity, safety concerns, security violations, or other unusual circumstances.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Candidates must meet at least one of the following:
  • Three (3) years of security experience within the past five (5) years; or
  • Three (3) years of military or National Guard service, active or reserve; or
  • Associate degree or higher in a security, criminal justice, law enforcement, or related field; or
  • Successful completion of a police officer's basic training academy; or
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education as approved by the appropriate government/site authority.
  • Prior military, civilian, or security guard experience is preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• Must possess a valid state driver's license.

• Must be able to successfully complete all required background screening, psychological evaluation, drug testing, and initial training.

• Must successfully complete all required site-specific training.

• Must obtain and maintain all required permits, licenses, certifications, firearms qualifications, and security clearances required for the position and site.

• Must be able to fluently speak, read, comprehend, and write in English.

• Must demonstrateproficiency with computers, including typing and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Outlook.

• Must be able to read and understand post orders and prepare accurate, detailed, and grammatically correct reports.

• Must meet all applicable federal, contract, and site suitability requirements.

• Must maintain documentation demonstrating compliance with applicable employment eligibility and federal requirements.

• Candidates must meet applicable federal and site requirements regarding illegal drug use, sale, possession, or manufacture, including any required look-back period.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

• Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping for up to 12 hours per day.

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, rain, wind, sleet, and snow.

• Ability to remain on post for up to four consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or using restroom facilities, as required by the assigned post.

• Ability to sustain alertness for up to 12 hours and react quickly to unexpected situations using sight, hearing, smell, and touch.

• Ability to operate security equipment, including metal detectors, X-ray systems, CCTV, and other security systems.

• Ability to safely carry and utilize a firearm as required and in accordance with applicable requirements.

• Ability to occasionally run, sprint, lift heavy items, move objects, and climb stairs in support of emergency operations, facility evacuations, or other security requirements.

• Ability to tolerate physical exertion and sudden emotional stress associated with emergency and security situations.
• Contractor personnel must successfully complete any required physical evaluationdemonstratingappropriate endurance, physical conditioning, ability to safely use firearms and security equipment, and capability to perform the physical requirements of the position.
