Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Utilizing computer software to create engineering designs, drawings, 3-dimensional models. Reading, interpreting and making complex technical drawings. Demonstrating the understanding of advanced composite structures including both hydrodynamic and aerodynamic models. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD/modified direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position is at the full performance level. A 40 hour work week is typical in this position. Must pass a pre-employment physical exam. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. Physical Demands: Duties are performed while standing most of the time. Regularly lifting objects up to 40 pounds and occasional lifting and movement of heavier equipment. This position requires a significant amount of mobility and physical ability including climbing multiple flights of stairs, crouching, kneeling and bending. Work Environment:The Incumbent exercise normal safety and personal security practices required when working. Work is performed mostly in well lighted laboratories, classrooms and or lecture halls. The Incumbent is regularly exposed to moderate risks and discomforts, such as high noise levels from wind tunnels, moving machinery parts, and dust/fumes from fabrication work. Protective equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection and gloves is required. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
