Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: work with a federal, state, municipal, local, or private protective organization planning the activities of a security guard force shift, performing access control operations, administering training to ensure personnel are equip to protect against threats to property and personnel, interviewing candidates for employment, evaluating employee performance, and providing recommendations for leave approval and disciplinary action. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).

This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer such as chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton. The incumbent must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments. The incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminals. Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors. Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest. This position requires the completion of a one year supervisory probationary period. The purpose of the supervisory probationary period is to provide the agency with an opportunity to assess your supervisory performance. Direct deposit of pay is required.
