Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking aSoftware Development Managerto lead software engineering efforts, deliver AI-enabled capabilities on data center and high-performance computing infrastructure in support of mission operations.Responsibilities:The Software Development Manager leads a team of software engineers through the full development lifecycle, balancing hands-on technical leadership with people management, delivery ownership, and customer engagement in a classified environment.Team LeadershipLead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career developmentAssign work, manage capacity, and allocate resources across competing prioritiesEstablish and enforce engineering standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and peer reviewTechnical DeliveryOwn delivery of software releases against program schedules, working with product owners and program management to define scope and commitmentsProvide architectural direction and technical guidance; participate in design reviews and remain conversant in the codebaseDrive CI/CD practices, automated testing, and secure development lifecycle activitiesOversee integration of software with AI/ML pipelines and HPC or data center infrastructureIdentify and manage technical risk, dependencies, and escalationsProgram and ComplianceCoordinate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and engineering teams on system accreditation, patching, and incident responseEnsure development practices comply with applicable security policies and accreditation requirements (RMF, NIST 800-53)Prepare technical documentation, status reporting, and briefings for program leadership and the government customerSupport estimation, staffing plans, and input to program planning
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:10 years of experience, may have supervisory or lead experienceActive TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a polygraphDemonstrated experience delivering production software through the full development lifecycleProficiency in one or more modern languages such as Python, Java, C++, or GoExperience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, containerization, and automated testingExperience working in Agile or Scrum delivery environmentsExperience supporting classified or restricted-access systemsStrong written and verbal communication skills, including briefing technical content to non-technical stakeholdersPreferred Qualifications:Experience delivering AI/ML-enabled capabilities or supporting data-intensive and HPC environmentsFamiliarity with cloud environments such as AWS GovCloud or Azure GovernmentExperience with Kubernetes, microservices architecture, or infrastructure-as-codeWorking knowledge of RMF and NIST 800-53 as applied to software systemsDoD 8570/8140-compliant certification (e.g., Security+) or ability to obtainBenefits:Peraton offers enhanced benefits to employees supporting this critical National Security program, which include heavily subsidized employee benefits coverage for you and your dependents, 25 days of PTO accrued annually up to a generous PTO cap, and eligibility to participate in an attractive bonus plan.
