We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Developer to support the Air Force to help in developing and operating modernized applications that are used daily by the warfighter. This is an exciting new initiative where the Air Force is mirroring Silicon Valley processes and capabilities to quickly deploy new capabilities. Candidates must be passionate, energized, and excited to work on modern architectures and solve challenging problems for our clients.
Position Description (what you will do)
Design and build both the front-end UI (e.g., React, Angular, or similar frameworks) and the Go-based backend microservices for the team’s web application - the primary interface through which users browse, search, and inspect software artifacts (container images, scan results, SBOMs, attestations) within Iron Bank.
Design and implement RESTful (or similar) APIs in Go that expose backend data and functionality to the front end, and consume/integrate those same APIs from the UI.
Contribute to front-end architecture and component design as well as backend service design, keeping both layers maintainable and consistent as new features are added.
Drive the single-pane-of-glass consolidation of the application’s user experience - unifying previously separate interfaces, workflows, and backend services into one coherent product.
Ensure the application meets federal accessibility (Section 508/WCAG) and usability standards on the front end, and reliability/performance standards on the backend.
Participate in the team’s CI/CD pipeline for building, testing, and deploying both front-end and backend code, coordinating with the DevSecOps engineers who own the underlying pipeline and infrastructure.
Own assigned full-stack tasking independently - translate well-articulated requirements and designs into working, tested features end-to-end - with oversight and guidance available from leadership as needed, and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
Participate in agile delivery (sprint planning, design reviews, code reviews) with the broader web development team.
Requirements:
8+ years of professional full-stack development experience, including hands-on delivery of both front-end UI and backend services in production.
Strong experience with Go for backend service development, including building and maintaining RESTful (or similar) APIs.
Strong experience with a modern JavaScript/TypeScript framework (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue) for front-end development.
Strong HTML/CSS skills and experience building responsive, accessible user interfaces (Section 508/WCAG).
Experience designing data models and API contracts that connect front-end and backend components cleanly.
Experience with front-end and backend testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress, Go’s testing package, or similar).
Experience working within CI/CD pipelines for full-stack code delivery.
Demonstrated ability to work independently against well-articulated tasking, with oversight and guidance available, and to mentor less experienced engineers.
Nice to Have:
Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community programs, particularly Platform One or other DoD software factory environments.
Experience consolidating or migrating legacy web interfaces and services into a modern, unified application.
Familiarity with design systems and component libraries.
Experience with data visualization or complex data-table/search UI patterns, relevant to browsing large sets of software artifacts.
Familiarity with container image/software supply-chain concepts (SBOMs, vulnerability data) relevant to the data this application surfaces.
Prior experience mentoring or informally leading a small technical team.
