In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience managing and evaluating physical security operations, including intrusion detection systems, biometric and card access controls, perimeter barriers, and alarm monitoring for data centers and secure facilities (such as SCIFs or SAPFs) OR conducting Inspections & Assessments: Planning and executing routine self-inspections, vulnerability assessments, and physical security compliance reviews to identify security deficiencies, mitigate risks, and maintain regulatory compliance OR leading External Audits & Accreditations: Preparing for and coordinating formal government security inspections, staff assistance visits, and accreditation reviews; developing corrective action plans to resolve audit findings; and maintaining facility accreditation in accordance with DoD and federal security standards. If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment. This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service. A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service. This position has been identified as a Defense Security Position (DSP) in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) Manual 3305.13-M, "DoD Security Accreditation and Certification" and selectees will be required to meet the certification requirements of the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) program. As such, the individual selected for this position must obtain and/or maintain a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC). Upon appointment to this position selectees will have two years to meet the applicable SPeD certification requirements and will be required to sign a statement acknowledging the SFPC requirements and agreeing to permit the DoD to access and monitor the certification qualifications associated with this position.
